Fractal Definition: A geometric pattern that is repeated (iterated) at ever smaller (or larger) scales to produce (self similar) irregular shapes and surfaces that cannot be represented by classical (Euclidian) geometry. Fractals are used especially in computer modeling of irregular patterns and structures found in nature.(1)
Fractals are a unique, digital art form, using mathematical formulas to create art with an infinite diversity of form, detail, color and light. One can create unique graphical compositions previously unseen to the human eye with these complex images derived from mathematical formulas.
Fractals are one of nature's biggest design secrets. They are solutions that natural selection has come up with over and over again. Fractals are essentially geometric shapes that are represented in natural objects. They are in our lungs, kidneys, blood vessels, flowers, plants, a spider web, snowflake, weather systems, the rhythms of the heart, to larger phenomena such as clouds, hurricanes, or even galaxies in space.
